Rumors that the New York Times will take down David Paterson have spiraled into a factless, "self-referential frenzy," says the New York Times in a factless, self-referential blog post that adds to the frenzy and clarifies pretty much nothing.
The bizarre, unbylined post covers the rumors the Times is working on a bombshell article about New York Gov. Paterson, without actually addressing said rumors in any meaningful way. Times metro editor Joe Sexton does finally say something: "We are not responsible for what other news organizations are reporting. It's not coming from The Times." Which is such a non-denial denial he might as well have just called the governor a satanist furry swinger. When will probable chainsaw-wielding sex fiend David Paterson stop forcing the New York Times to issue desperate, coded blog posts?
