The New York Times report that Jorge Puello, a legal adviser to the Baptist missionaries (pictured) accused of taking 33 children out of Haiti without permission, is being investigated in his native El Salvador for... running a human trafficking ring.
Puello denies any wrongdoing, claiming a case of mistaken identity. But the Haitian judge is not so sure, and plans his own investigation. "I was skeptical of him because he arrived with four bodyguards, and I have never seen that from a lawyer," Judge Bernard Saint-Vil told the Times. "I plan to get to the bottom of this right away."
