Noted Journalism Scholar Sarah Palin Inks Book Deal With Harper Collins [Great Moments In Publishing]

After reportedly seeking an $11 million advance last year, America's snowbilly sweetheart Sarah Palin has signed a book deal with Harper Collins to write her memoirs. And the world sighs.

Reports the Anchorage Daily News...

"There have been so many things written and said through mainstream media that have not been accurate, and it will be nice through an unfiltered forum to get to speak truthfully about who we are and what we stand for and what Alaska is all about," Palin said in an interview Tuesday announcing the deal.

Neither Palin nor HarperCollins would not say how much she was being paid. Asked why, the governor and 2008 Republican nominee for vice president said she didn't want to distract from the substance of the book.

The book is to be published sometime in the spring of 2010. Palin will have a collaborator, who is expected to be chosen soon. The governor said she wants to do a lot of the writing herself, and that it will be her story and her words.

"It will be nice to put my journalism degree to work on this and get to tell my story, Alaska's story. There have been so many unauthorized books and publications that have spoken to somebody else's opinion of who I am what my family represents and what Alaska is all about," she said.

Through high level sources at Harper Collins Gawker can report tonight that rumors of Palin writing a memoir are absolutely false. Rather, we're told that she intends to write a book based on her soon to launch Tumblr blog titled "This Is Why You're Going To Burn In Hell For Eternity With Satan," a site that will feature photographs of people committing various heinous sins against JESUS, such as two Chelsea boys taking turns sodomizing each other in the steam room at David Barton's gym, a Southern white man wearing a cowboy hat pulling a lever in a voting booth for Obama during the 2008 election, and a man driving a Prius with a copy of the Koran riding shotgun. Also, her "collaborator" is some guy named Richard Blakeley, but we still have absolutely no idea where she may have gotten this book idea from.

Over A Year After Android Launch, ShopSavvy Finally Comes To The iPhone

ShopSavvy was one of the best early Android applications. It launched in October of last year after winning one of the initial Android Developer Challenge top prizes (when it was still known as GoCart). But despite the success it has seen on Android, one question remained: When would it be available for the iPhone. Today, it finally is. Developed by the guys at Big In Japan , ShopSavvy is an app that allows you to use your device as a portable barcode scanner. You point your phone's camera at any barcode and it will read it, do a product look up, and give you information about the product, as well as where you can find it online or at nearby stores and for how much. Obviously, something like this is a window shopper's dream. ShopSavvy was one of the best early Android applications. Lindsay Lohan Breakup Confirmed by Lohan, Locksmith, Police [Gossip Roundup]

Farewell, last season's Suri Cruise fashions. Goodbye, Amy Winehouse's bathing suit. Adieu, humanoid version of Lauren Conrad. And so long, LiLo and SamRon's fairytale romance. Lindsay Lohan confirmed her split with Samantha Ronson and insisted the decision was part of a very healthy and mature effort to " focus on myself ." Upon hearing this, Ronson changed her locks and discussed a restraining order with police, so confident was she in Lohan's ability to turn productively inward. Lohan promptly had a run-in with the police . Who would have imagined such a messy breakup for this model relationship? Deadpan gallows humor: the only possible response to having Courtney Love as a client. (Besides asking for a hefty retainer.) [ P6 ] Before Lauren Conrad's contract expired in March, MTV
